Luminesce You — group art therapy workshops
Guided meditation and creative expression, in a room with other people doing the same thing. No artistic experience needed — a receptive heart and a little curiosity is the whole entry requirement.
What happens in a workshop
Debra opens each workshop with guided meditation — a chance to put down whatever you walked in carrying and arrive properly. From there the group moves into art-making, with Debra circulating to help anyone who wants it and leaving alone anyone who does not.
Afterwards there is space to talk about what came up, if you want to. Plenty of people say nothing at all and still leave with something. What you make is yours to keep or to leave behind.
Who these workshops suit
People who would rather not be alone with it
If one-to-one feels like too much attention, a group can be easier. You are working alongside others, not being watched.
People who want their creativity back
Many arrive saying they have not made anything since school. That is the most common starting point here, not the exception.
People after reflective time with others
Quiet, unhurried time to think — with the company of a room of people doing the same thing, and the connection that tends to follow.
Workshop questions
Do I need any artistic experience to join a workshop?
No. Luminesce You workshops are open to all experience levels, from complete beginners to practising artists. The value is in the process of making, not in the finished piece, so no prior skill is needed.
What happens in a Luminesce You workshop?
Each workshop pairs guided meditation with art-making in a supportive group setting. Debra guides the group through settling and reflection first, then into creative expression, with space afterwards to share as much or as little as you wish.
How is a group workshop different from a one-to-one session?
One-to-one sessions are private and tailored entirely to you, at your own pace. Group workshops add the shared experience of others working alongside you — many people find the group setting itself is part of what helps.
Where are the workshops held?
Workshops run regularly in South East Queensland, serving clients across the Brisbane and Gold Coast regions. Get in touch for upcoming dates and the location of the next workshop.
What should I bring to a workshop?
Just yourself and a willingness to explore. Bring a receptive heart, a little curiosity, and comfortable clothes you do not mind getting paint on.
